Bulgarian Man Utd star Dimitar Berbatov, 29, receives a EUR 4.87 M yearly salary, which ranks him the 38th most highly paid football player the world.
Berbatov, who has been in top form recently, being the Premier League's leading goalscorer this season with 14 goals, is expected to get a 2-year extension of his contract with an increased weekly salary of GBP 140 000.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for the Spanish Real Madrid, tops the list with the bulky EUR 12 M. Berbatov's teammate Wayne Rooney comes in second with EUR 11.5 M. Barcelona's Lionel Messi, who recently received the most prestigious award in the football world, the Golden Ball, receives "only" EUR 11 M.
