Bulgaria's Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov is the ruling centrist GERB party's most probable candidate for President, according to PM Borisov.
He said that as in relation to Tsvetan Tsvetanov being declared Bulgaria's "Politician of the Year" 2010 in a traditional media poll, held by Darik Radio and its website dariknews.bg
" I believe Tsvetanov should be GERB's presidential candidate. There are some other possible choices but I think that my colleague is the most appropriate for the job," Borisov said. He referred to himself and Tsvetanov having worked together in Bulgaria's Interior Ministry until 2005.
Borisov was positive that Bulgaria's EU Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva is not even on the list with GERB's potential candidates. Georgieva, who finished second in the "Politician of the Year" poll, has been frequently mentioned as a possibly running for President in 2011. She has, however, on several occasions denied such rumors, saying that "this is currently not on her agenda".
"She is needed in Brussels, where she does a great job," Borisov commented on Saturday.
In the course of the last several months, Borisov has mentioned Tsvetanov's name as a potential GERB candidate for President with a different degree of certainty, Bulgaria's Prime Minister has dismissed the idea of running for President himself, saying that "there is a 99.9% probability that this will not happen."
