French police have arrested the 17-year-old who took 20 children and a teacher hostage in a nursery school earlier Monday, the BBC informed.

On Monday morning, the youth, armed with two swords, entered the nursery school in the city of Besancon. He took 20 children, all age 4-5 and a teacher hostage. Later he released some of them.

Five or six children and a teacher were believed to still be inside the nursery when the police entered the building. All hostages were released safe.
