Bulgaria: Moldovan Ship Sinks Off Israel, Crew Rescued

Moldovan cargo ship “Adriatic” sank in stormy weather off Israel’s coast on Sunday, an Israeli maritime official has announced.

The ship’s 11 crew members, all Ukrainian, survived thanks to the lifeboats and were rescued by a Taiwanese ship, Yigal Maor of Israel’s shipping and ports authority said.

The official has added that the rescue operation has been complicated by the high waves and winds.

According to Israel’s radio stations, the Moldovan ship was about 11 km off Israel’s coast when it started sinking. The ship was reportedly carrying 3,000 tons of iron.
