Bulgaria: WikiLeaks Changes Domain Name, Moves to Switzerland

WikiLeaks announced it has changed its domain name to wikileaks.ch and registered it in Switzerland after an American provider withdrew its service and the website went offline.

"WikiLeaks moved to Switzerland," says a message on the WikiLeaks Twitter feed and provides the new Web address.

WikiLeaks was knocked off the net after the US company everydns.net which translated its domain name – wikileaks.org – to its "internet protocol" (IP) address withdrew support.

By mid-morning, attempts to access the original wikileaks.org Web site produced only a page saying: “The address is not valid.” But the new domain name, wikileaks.ch provided access to the site.

WikiLeaks, whose founder, Julian Assange, is being sought for questioning in connection to alleged sex crimes in Sweden, which he denies, has called on supporters to “keep us strong” and provided on the Twitter feed a link for financial donations.
