The project to build a second Nuclear Power Plant in Bulgaria's Danube town of Belene was not delayed one bit by the GERB Cabinet, according to Prime Minister Borisov.

Bulgarian PM and GERB party leader, Boyko Borisov, said in a Wednesday interview for the TV channel Nova Televizia, said the Bulgarian taxpayer was standing behind him and it is about time details of earlier negotiations about the NPP were made available to the public.

The interview came on the heels of the Tuesday announcement, that Bulgaria, Russia and third parties have signed a rucial memorandums on the creation of a company to construct the Belene NPP, committing to the project whose fate was not clear up to now.

Borisov further stated GERB predecessors were so impudent that even now, when all cards are on the table, they continue to talk non-sense, reminding the documents about what has been done with Belene prior to him taking office has been sent to the Prosecutor's Office a while ago and he was expecting to see charges soon.

The PM pointed out the Rosatom CEO, Sergey Kiriyenko, admitted the price of EUR 4 B to build the NPP announced earlier was a mistake, while the former cabinet not only failed to do that, but continued to tell made-up stories.

Borisov warned that spreading more rumors the German RWE withdrew from the project over GERB coming into power, he would stir an international scandal, because he would demand the Germans send an official written explanation about reasons for their decision.

"We took office in July and they immediately left. It they have done it before the elections, it would have been beneficial for us," the PM concluded reiterating he was delighted to hear Russia admitting they negotiated with the only goal to sign a contract for Belene.

"It is wonderful that there is political will. Now it is the experts' turn. French and Finish participation is a fact as well. This project must now start functioning," Borisov said.
