A half-Bulgarian baby girl survives after being born in the 22nd week of the mother's pregnancy, the Italian news agencies report.

Baby girl Angelica was born only 550 grams in the University Hospital "Policlinico Umberto I" in Rome. The mother is Romanian and the father is Bulgarian. Their names have not been disclosed.

The little girl is in good health thanks to the most modern techniques for resuscitation and life support of premature babies.

For months, she has been breathing through an apparatus and has been under a parenteral nutrition, but she already eats with a bottle.

Angelica is now 3,5 kg and tests have shown that so far there are no neurological changes caused by the very early birth.

Only 5% of the babies born in the 22nd week of the pregnancy manage to survive and this happens only if they are treated in the best hospitals, according to Italian agencies.
