Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
Bulgaria's first ever EU Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva, visited me in person in my home to beg support on the part of the GERB party for her having a second term with the European Commission, Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, says.
His Monday comments came on the heels on Kuneva's statements in a weekend TV interview that she has never asked anyone for support in order to acquire high-level positions.
During the same interview, the ex Commissioner firmly denied media reports she would be a key player in the future political project of President, Georgi Parvanov, and even its presidential candidate.
"Ethics required that we do not make such conversations public, and the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party decided to nominate a new face for EU Commissioner, but I still deeply respect Ms. Kuneva," Borisov pointed out.
The PM did not overlook the ex Commissioner's Monday morning comments that she supported the student protests by saying he wanted to remind her that in the last 8 years the Education Ministry was lead by people from her own National Movement for Stability and Prosperity Party (NMSP) of former Tsar and PM, Simeon Saxe-Coburg.
"These people did not do anything to reform even a little bit the education sector," Borisov pointed out.
