Bulgaria's former Justice Minister Miglena Tacheva has been appointed the CEO of Festa Holding, a Bulgarian entity holding investments in various economic fields.
Tacheva was the Minister of Justice in the three-way coalition government of PM Sergey Stanishev (2005-2009) from the quota of the National Movement for Stability and Prosperity. She became a minister in 2007, after her predecessor Georgi Petkanov resigned.
Tacheva became a member of the board of directors and CEO of Festa Holding AD at a board meeting on Wednesday. Bulgarian media have commented that Tacheva is the only former justice minister in Bulgaria, who has entered corporate business, rather than remaining in the justice and law field.
Festa Holding is owned by businesswoman Petya Slavova. Over the past few years the holding made headlines with its project to build a dolphinarium right in the middle of the Old Town of Bulgaria's Black Sea resort Nessebar, which jeopardized Nessebar's status as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Nessebar Municipality subsequently got Slavova to agree on a settlement that preclude the construction of a dolphinarium in the Old Town.
