Bulgarian Rightists Won't Vote for New Health Minister Nominee

Politics » DOMESTIC | October 5, 2010, Tuesday // 20:11

The Bulgarian right-wing Blue Coalition will abstain at the Parliament vote Wednesday for the new nomiee for Minister of Health, Stefan Konstantinov.

The statement was made Tuesday evening by Vanyo Sharkov, Member of the Parliament from one of the two parties forming the Blue Coalition - Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB).

"During the last two cabinet terms nothing was done to improve the Bulgarian health care sector and there is no longer any time left to make more mistakes," the MP told the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR.

The Blue rightists had earlier Tuesday given a deadline of Wednesday morning for Konstantinov to formulate how he is going to go about rehabilitating the Bulgarian healthcare system.

During the meeting between the Blue Coalition and Konstantinov, it was made clear that he will not present such a document, but the rightists agreed with the overall conceptions he presented.

In the past days, it was speculated that the Konstantinov has been actually pointed out as a good candidate for the position by the Blue Coalition itself.
