The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is considering three possible reasons to stage a no-confidence vote against the cabinet of the center-right GERB party.

At a press conference Tuesday, the BSP leader and former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, said the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) government is failing in the health reform, the anti-crisis measures and in improving wages and quality of life in the country.

Stanishev pointed out the leading issue is the health care system, which is now in a state of full collapse, adding the anti-crisis plan did not work all while information about economic growth across the EU is being reported daily.

The Socialist leader forecasts a zero or negative economic growth in Bulgaria for 2010 and tax hikes which along with diminished income make life quality worse and worse every passing week.

Stanishev informed the other major opposition party – the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) is ready to hold talks and to support a no-confidence vote.

When asked by a reporter if DPS want the ousting of Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, the ex PM explained the cleanest way to remove a minister is to have a no-confidence vote against the entire cabinet, but stressed Djankov is one of the main targets over the latter's personal responsibility for the failing health care and education reforms.

"It is, however, the Prime Minister, who is ultimately responsible and it is time to stop this game of good and bad cops with the Finance Minister and Heath Minister, Anna Maria Borisova, playing the part of the bad cops while PM Borisov always ends up being the good one," Stanishev stated.
