Ukrainian Woman Detained in Sunny Beach After Attempted Bribery of Police Officers
Bulgarian authorities found themselves grappling with a peculiar case involving a 60-year-old Ukrainian woman
The special police operation codenamed "The Killers" is about to reveal five murder plots, Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, announced Saturday.
The murders bear the same signature mark and crime profile, Tsvetanov said, adding there is enough evidence and witness testimony in the case.
The Minister further declared he was confident this time the evidence will be admitted in court, while the three individuals arrested in the sequel of operation "The Killers" are exactly where they belong – behind bars.
Tsvetanov pointed out the fact magistrates often release some of those arrested during special police operations should not be dramatized and blown out of proportion and vowed to continue the fight to bring them back in jail.
Until now, "The Killers" have been implicated in two murders for hire – of controversial Samokov businessman, Yuri Galev and the Shumen businessman, Rumen Rachev.
The Police Head stated his top priorities are amendments to the Police Act involving Bulgaria's Schengen Zone entry.
On other topics, the Minister declared his ruling center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party will win the presidential and local elections in 2011. The nominees will be announced in May or June. The party will not enter in coalitions for the elections.
