Leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Sergey Stanishev vowed immediate start of consultations on a no-confidence vote for the GERB cabinet, thus upping prospects for an interesting new political season this fall.
This statement comes after co-leaders Ivan Kostov and Martin Dimitrov of rightist Blue Coalition, which has consistently supported the government, made scathing criticism of GERB's economic policy Monday and Tuesday.
The socialist leader said his party will have consultations with all parties that do not support the cabinet, without specifying names.
The former Bulgarian PM (2005-2009) further stated that the GERB cabinet lead by Boyko Borisov is “one whimpering government” in view of persisting complaints from the cabinet that its work is obstructed by external factors, including the "bad legacy" of the Stanishev-led tripartite coalition government.
Like the rightist co-leaders, the socialist lashed out at present economic policy, saying it is “wrong” and counducted “with police measures.”
Similar to rightist Kostov, with whom he shares little sympathy, Stanishev also pointed out at outstanding payments from the state budget to private companies which are persistently not paid when due.
The socialist leader said that the BSP group will have healthcare, social policy, education and state budget 2011 as top priorities for the new parliamentary session starting out Wednesday.
