An Albanian man was arrested after he confessed that he killed an 11-year-old Bulgarian girl in Greece.

Reni Traykova was missing since Sunday afternoon and was declared for natinoal search by the Greek authorities.

The body of the girl was found Monday morning in an agricultural region in the southern part of the country.

A 41-year-old Albanian national, Jani Malo Merkay, has confessed he offered the girl a ride home but subsequently drove the child to a remote area 7 km away from the village of Eleohori where he raped her and threw her body in a well with 10 m in depth.

After he made full confessions, Merkay took the police to the site of the murder, where he confirmed his earlier statements.

The man has been arrested and charged with murder.

The authorities have provided a psychologist for the girl's relatives.
