Bulgaria’s alleged top crime boss Zlatomir Ivanov aka Baretata (The Barret) will be transferred from jail to a hospital, the Sofia Court of Appeals ruled Thursday.

The measure is imposed by Ivanov’s ailing health. Before making the decision, the magistrates heart several medical experts testifying the inmate’s health condition deteriorated after his arrest over the lack of doctor’s care.

Upon release from the “Tokuda” hospital in Sofia, which is the only place Baretata can be treated as the Court decided, the latter is to return to jail.

Ivanov, along with 20 other defendants is charged with organized crime, illegal drug trafficking and plotting the murder of Rumen Stefanov aka Alf.
