The number of passengers that went through Bulgaria’s Varna Airport in the first seven months of 2010 declined compared with the same period of 2009.

A total of 653 384 passengers used the Varna Airport in January-July 2010, the majority of them being foreign tourists as the airport services not just the city of Varna but also the last resorts along the country’s northern Black Sea coast such as Golden Sands.

Yet, their number declined by 1.18% compared with the first seven months of 2009. The number of passengers from Russia, Austria, Poland, and Belarus is on the rise as is the number of those taking Bulgaria’s internal flights.

July 30 was the busiest day for the Varna Airport in 2010 so far with a total of almost 16 000 passengers and 113 landings and takeoffs. The

The Varna Airport currently has regular flights to destinations in 12 countries. Its newest charter flight destinations are Wroclaw, Poland; Aarhus, Denmark; Lodz, Poland; Ufa, Russia; and Tabriz, Iran.
