The released members of the “Killers” gang are prepared to carry out the assassination of the Bulgarian Prime Minister, believes Deputy Chief Prosecutor Boyko Naydenov.
“It is totally unfathomable to me how the judiciary can work in this way,” Naydenov declared commenting on Tuesday’s decisions of the Sofia Appellate Court to release on bail almost all of the suspects busted in two much advertised recent police operations – codenamed “Killers” and “All Trumps” - as cited by dir.bg.
“Our operational information makes it clear that the Killers group has really taken up to carry out the assassination of Prime Minister Borisov. This is really serious. I am not going to go into detail,” Prosecutor Naydenov said. In his words, the court decisions have place the prosecutors in a “ground position.”
“There is no direct proof for an assassination because the perpetrators were not tapped during the time of the organization. However, there are direct proofs from the later stage of their work when they are detected talking about the motives. There are also witnesses. They were tapped talking about the murder of the acting Prime Minister. We have information about all that, I am not going to comment but these things are frightening,” Naydenov declared.
Several judges from the Sofia Appellate Court which released the alleged “Killers” have expressed criticism of the poor evidence of the police and the prosecution.
Speaking in a political TV talk show last week, Bulgarian PM Borisov hinted he was aware of an assassination plot against him.
