Seasonally adjusted industrial production grew by 0,8% in the Eurozone and by 0,5% in the EU in April 2010 compared with March 2010.
In March production increased by 1.5% and 1.4% respectively, according to data released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, on Monday.
In April 2010 compared with April 2009, industrial production increased by 9.5% in the Eurozone and by 7.8% in the EU.
Among the Member States industrial production rose in eighteen and fell only in Greece (-6.4%), Ireland (-2.8%) and Bulgaria (-2.6%) year on year, which is the largest increase in the last 20 years. The highest increases were registered in Estonia (+18.3%), the Netherlands (+14.7%) and Germany (+13.9%).
Among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in twelve and fell in nine on monthly basis. The highest increases were registered in Lithuania (+6.0%), Estonia (+2.4%) and Denmark (+2.2%), and the largest decreases in Ireland (-10.9%), Portugal (-4.4%) and Greece (-3.4%).
The monthly decrease in Bulgaria is -1.2%, compared to a +0.7% for neighboring Romania, where on annual base the increase is +4.2%
