A 53-year-old Turkish citizen was killed in a tragic car accident in Bulgaria on the E-80 highway between Svilengrad and Kapitan Andreevo early Saturday.

Kaskovo police reported Saturday that the accident had occurred at around 01:00 in the morning. They added that the Turkish citizen’s Peugeot had been hit head on by a truck while he was trying to overtake.

The Turkish man’s 50-year-old wife is in a critical condition in Haskovo hospital, with a fractured skull and five broken ribs.

Since the start of May there have been 147 serious accident in Bulgaria, with 12 dead, while since the beginning of 2010 there have been 1860 accident with 206 deaths, as the war on the roads continues unabated.
