Regular Arson Attacks on Cars Reported in Sofia
The office car of the Mayor of Bulgaria’s town of Velingrad was set on fire overnight, Darik radio reports Monday.
The Mayor, Ivan Lebanov, had not been in the car at the time of the incident and had not been hurt. The automobile was parked near the Mayor’s house and the blaze was noticed around 11 pm Sunday evening.
Arson is one of the possible causes the investigation is probing. The results are expected in two days.
“They cannot scare me; they are the ones who should be afraid,” Lebanov told Darik radio, refusing to offer further details. The Mayor denies receiving any threats, but did, however, point out that there are 3 lucrative public tenders going on in Velingrad with many and various interested parties.
Lebanov had postponed a trip to Turkey over the incident.
