The cabinet of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and the GERB party ruined Bulgaria's most promising project – the building of a nanotechnology center, according to former Finance Minister, Plamen Oresharski.
Oresharski, who was a member of the socialist-led Three-Way Coalition cabinet, says his government fought for 2 years to attract the interest of a company such as IBM while the current one of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party struck it without giving it a second thought.
According to the former Finance Minister, this nanotechnology center will be built in Romania where there isn't a debate about the benefits from such project.
Oresharski further informed the revenues in 2008 have been BGN 27 B while the expenditures amounted to BGN 25 B, adding the BGN 2 B surplus is money the current cabinet is now spending.
“2008 was the year with the best financial results in the 20 years of transition and would remain an example for a sound fiscal policy,” the ex Minister pointed out.
