The temporary government formed in Kyrgyzstan after the recent coup intends to shift from a presidential to parliamentary republic.

“The provisional government is going to amend the Constitution and the electoral legislation within six months, as well as to form a new central electoral commission and to hold Parliamentary and Presidential Elections in order to legitimize the new authority,” Deputy PM Omurbek Tekebaev has announced as cited by Interfax.

At least 75 people are reported killed in the rioting in Kyrgyzstan since April 6-7, 2010, which has resulted in the ousting of the Kyrgyzstan government with opposition leaders forming a provisional government headed by Roza Otunbayeva, a former Foreign Minister.

Ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has issued a statement he is not giving up the presidential position, and he still is the legal President of Kyrgyzstan, although he is not capable of exercising his functions in the current political situation.

Representatives of the provisional government have visited Moscow in order to seek Russian support for establishing their authority.
