Three former ministers of Bulgaria's previous cabinet of the Three-Way Coalition are going to be officially charged by the Prosecutors Office.

According to Chief Prosecutor, Boris Velchev, the three are: the ex Finance Minister, Plamen Oresharski, the ex Regional Minister, Assen Gagauzov, and the ex Environment Minister, Dzevdet Chakarov.

The signal about them had been submitted personally by current Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov. They will be charged with violating the State Budget Act and concluding unfavorable contracts in the amount of over BGN 2 B.

The cabinet of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party is trying to find ways to annul contracts concluded by their predecessors without being backed by available financing.

Last week, Regional Minister, Rosen Plevneliev, reported he had been able to cancel annexes signed by Gagauzov in the amount of BGN 300 M. The Environmental Minister, Nona Karadzhova, also annulled some contracts concluded by her predecessor.

The charges against Gagauzov, Chakarov and Oresharski follow charges for violations against former Minister of Labor and Social Policy, Emiliya Maslarova, former Agriculture Minister, Valeri Tsvetanov, and former Defense Minister, Nikolay Tsonev. On April 1 Tsonev became the very first ex Minister arrested over attempting to bribe a judge.
