The Bulgarian Defense Ministry informed Friday that the rotation between the 1st and 2nd Bulgarian army companies guarding the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, had concluded.

The Bulgarian military contingent of 221 servicemen has returned to Sofia late Thursday evening. The rangers were greeted at the airport for the successful completion of their NATO mission by Deputy Defense Minister, Valentin Radev, and the Commander of the Joint Operational Command, Gen. Atanas Samandov. Foreign Affairs Minister, and former Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, was also present at the ceremony.

The 2nd company had already began to carry out their security duties at the Kabul airport, which include patrolling, escorting and helping reforms in the Afghani security sector.
