The Members of the Bulgarian Parliament decided at second reading Wednesday to impose penalties of 3 to 10 years in jail for kidnapping.

The amendments will be included in the new Penal Code.

In addition, the Parliament passed sanctions such as 7 to 15 years behind bars, life sentence and life sentence without parole when the abduction had been done by more than 2 people, when weapons have been used and when ransom has been asked.

For repeated kidnappings, the punishment is 10 to 12 years behind bars, life sentence and life sentence without parole.
