Bulgaria's Economy Minister, Traicho Traikov, has said he is considering offering investors a minority stake in the Maritsa East 3 power plant.
Investors could be offered up to 27% of the value of the company, the amount now held by the state. The Minister has previously said the investment could bring in EUR 200 to the national budget.
Traikov confirmed on Friday that an unnamed European company had expressed an interest in Maritsa East 3.
The sale of the government stake would form part of the government’s policy decision to sell its minority stakes in 55 companies. The goal is to, at least partially, compensate for a revenue shortfall and to avoid the danger of increasing deficits.
