A homemade bomb, placed underneath an apartment balcony, exploded overnight in Sofia’s downtown “Serdica” quarter.

The bomb went off about 1 am Saturday. The blast rattled the neighborhood, breaking windows of several apartments, even in next-door buildings.

Initial information says the attack was aimed at two brothers, 21 and 23, who lived in the said apartment with their parents. The entire family was inside the apartment at the time of the blast.

The Police sealed off the area and searched the location all through the night. The investigation is ongoing Saturday. The amount of the material damage is still to be determined.

One of the brothers and the father have been taken to the police precinct for questioning.
