More Bulgarian doctors have joined the GP strike on Wednesday over the government’s health reform plans.

GPs from 9 more Bulgarian towns are set to keep their cabinets locked Wednesday. Sofia GPs however called off their protest late Tuesday after a meeting with Health Minister Bozhidar Nanev.

Plovdiv, Varna, Pleven, Dobrich, Pernik, Lovech, Smolyan, Vidin and Targovishte join the protesting GPs from other parts of the country, some of who have been on strike since Monday.

On Tuesday Prime Minister Boyko Borisov slammed the doctors for not calling off the strike after the GERB government gave into their demands – they paid BGN 250 M of the delayed payments and announced that the health insurance payments in Bulgaria will be raised by 2%.
