Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
The leader of the rightist Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), Ivan Kostov, has suggested that President Parvanov should publish all his recorded conversations.
"If President Georgi Parvanov claims that he records all his conversations calls, let him publish them," Kostov said on Saturday.
According to him, the President has committed a serious violation of Bulgarian law, by recording and publishing a conversation without the consent of the Bulgarian citizen.
Referring to the publication of the transcript of the meeting between the President and Deputy PM and Finance Minister Simeon Djankov, the rightist politician called it "an inadmissible manipulation".
Kostov also stated that the ruling party, GERB, should take a serious decision on whether the actions of the president should go unpunished and be forgotten.
"This is not just about Simeon Djankov and GERB, but about a violation of the Constitution," he stated.
According to Kostov, the only possible step to be taken is to initiate a procedure to remove the President from office.
The Speaker of the Bulgarian parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva, had called for the original text to be submitted to the National Assembly, and for Parvanov to confirm whether he had Djankov’s permission to do so.
The GERB Executive Committee issued a strongly worded statement, in which they condemned the President's actions as political manouvring, and denouncing his criticisms of the government and of Deputy PM and Finance Minister Djankov in particular.
