Bulgaria VMRO: Mitrova Banned from Seeing Daughter on Birthday
The Bulgarian mother living in Macedonia, who sparked a diplomatic scandal in 2009, was banned Thursday from seeing her 3-year-old daughter on her birthday.
Spaska Mitrova's request to see her girl Suzanna has been rejected, the Bulgarian nationalist VMRO party informs.
Mitrova has not seen her daughter for 7 months now. VMRO further say that the Court trying her parental rights case had appointed a psychiatric expertise in an attempt to prove the mother insane and unfit to take care of the toddler.
VMRO also insists that Mitrova's lawyers have been pressured by the Macedonian authorities to withdraw and the party helped the mother get a new attorney.
Mitrova was sentenced and served time in a Macedonian prison over charges she did not allow her estranged husband to see Suzanna. She was released early, but the parental rights case is ongoing.
Mitrova has declined comments for the media.
