Doctors from state and private hospitals will hold a civil protest, if the amount of funds delegated for medical institutions is not increased within 7 days, Dr. Stoycho Katsarov, the head of the ‘Center for Health Rights’, reported Monday.
Katsarov stated that in real terms the budgets for municipal hospitals have been cut by 60% by the center-right GERB government. He added that a petition with 127 000 signatures will be handed to the Council of Minister and Bulgaria PM Boyko Borisov pushing them to increase the funds for hospitals.
Last Monday, Borisov strongly backed his center-right GERB government’s health reforms after meeting with Bulgaria President Georgi Parvanov, even though he said they could never be 1005 perfect.
In November 2009 Bulgarian Doctors and patients cancelled their planned protest over the 2010 budget after a personal meeting between the Bulgarian Medical Association and Borisov.
