Shocker: Bulgaria Drops from UK Tourists' Cheapest Summer Spots List
In an unexpected turn, Bulgaria and Turkey have been notably absent from the list of the ten cheapest European summer destinations for British tourists
Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov and the Istanbul Mayor, Kadir Topbas, agreed in principle to sign a collaboration memorandum between Istanbul and Sofia.
The two met Saturday, during Borisov’s official visit to Turkey.
Istanbul will help Sofia in the construction of new underpasses and intersections. Turkey’s largest city recently built 240 underpasses in the matter of 60 days.
In a week, Topbas’ Deputy will arrive in Sofia to meet with Chief Architect, Petar Dikov, to discuss the possibility of road infrastructure construction with Turkish help, which is expected to ease up the traffic congestions hampering Sofia during rush hour.
In addition, joint culture events will be held in the frame of “Istanbul – European Culture Capital 2010”.
Borisov also visited the Valia (Governor) of Istanbul, Muammer Guler. The meeting was held behind closed doors.
The PM held a meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Vartolomei Saturday. On Friday he met with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and PM, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
