The team of three doctors and two nurses will participate in the international humanitarian mission as part of the field hospital of the French armed forces, the Council of Ministers press service announced. It is sent at the order of Prime Minister Borisov and Defense Minister Mladenov.
According to Gen. Stoyan Tonev, head of the Military Medical Academy, the team is going to Haiti for a month but its mission could be extended.
“This is a “classical” medical team – a surgeon, a traumatologist, and an anesthesiologist. This will be in a field hospital based on the island of Martinique because there are no conditions for such hospitals in Haiti. Such hospitals are available in the Dominican Republic, Martinique, and on ships in the Caribbean,” Gen. Tonev explained.
