Bulgaria's Prime Ministers Boyko Borisov and his Greek counterpart George Papandreou cut the ribbon for a new checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Greek border at Zlatograd-Xanthi.

The border crossing, which is expected to boost economic and tourism ties even further between the two neighboring EU and NATO member states, is the fourth checkpoint between the two countries.

Authorities on both sides of the border have described the move as a breakthrough as it meets the wish of the local populations for unhindered and speedy communication with the obvious benefits for tourism and regional development.
