Bulgaria: New Europe Claims Documents Clear Jeleva of Allegations

News website New Europe (www.neurope.eu) has published Thursday English translations of the financial documentation of Bulgarian EU Commissioner-Designate Rumiana Jeleva, claiming that they clear her of conflict of interest allegations.

According to New Europe, “From the officially translated documents, it is apparent that Jeleva has no longer any participation in Globul Consult, and did not have any participation which is/was not permissable by law.“

Its article further states:

“All the information is open to the public by entering in the Bulgarian Commercial Register, which is a service provided by the Bulgarian Registry Agency.

Globul Consult has a new name - Auto Spa. The register shows that this is the ex- Globul consult and also shows when the change was done, shows new owners and a new manager - Iveta Kirilova Koleva.”

The documentation refers to the fact that in 2007-2009, Rumiana Jeleva was simultaneously an MEP and a manager and owner of the private consultancy “Global Consult”. Under Bulgarian law, she could not hold any manager positions while being an MEP.
