Nationwide Strike Grips Greece: 24 Hours of Transport Paralysis
A nationwide strike in Greece has brought the country's transport networks to a standstill, affecting railways, ferries, buses, taxis, and more
Around 60 Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) workers have gone on strike at the central train station in Sofia over unpaid wages, the BDZ press office reported.
The workers have demanded to meet with representatives of BDZ and the Finance Ministry. BDZ reported that the ‘marshalling teams’ who came on for the night shift late Sunday went on a spontaneous strike which was not organized by the trade unions.
On Sunday, the Chairman of the Railway trade union, Petar Bunev, stated that an urgent meeting had been requested to the BDZ leadership and added that the full sum owed is BGN 10,5 M.
BDZ also concluded that the Ministry of Finance were set to transfer the funds for the November wages and payment would probably be made Monday but at the latest by Wednesday.
One international train has been blocked at the Sofia station but all other train services are currently working as scheduled.
