The Austrian company EVN has built a solar power park near Bulgaria's southern city of Sliven, the company reports.

EVN provides electric power to the Plovdiv Region and southeastern Bulgaria.

The investment is EUR 3 M. The park with a 863 kWp capacity is located near the village of Blatets, in the Sliven municipality.

In mid-December, EVN put in testing operation the first part of the park with a 178,2 kWp capacity, and is set to test two more groups of photovoltaic elements.

The testing will continue until the end of February when the park will be set into full operational mode.

This ia good news, I feel sure, and a very interesting experiment. Interesting particularly to see how long the system has to stay wkg. for in order to supply the energy invested in it.
Dliven is also in my books as a Windy place. Not only that, but if Sliven is approached by the "Winfarmers", all the council needs do, to give them the big push-off, is call me - bertdotwindonatgmail.com - when I can show that the best that can be done in "wind enrgy" returns about 40 times the percent p.a. that current (80m high) "technology" does - and is all but invisible in a relative way !
