Georgi Stoev: Changing Laws 'Creates Dangerous Precedent'
Economist Georgi Stoev told Novinite's Bulgarian-language website that the events around Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB) should not give ground to legal amendments.
Controversial Bulgarian journalist Bobi Tsankov who was shot dead in downtown Sofia Tuesday has recently started to become known as the country’s new mafia stories writer, not unlike Georgi Stoev who was shot in 2008.
Tsankov has recently published articles in low profile Bulgarian tabloids claiming that he had been a witness or a direct participant in important dealings in Bulgaria’s criminal world.
Many Bulgarian media commentators have already drawn parallels between the murders of Bobi Tsankov and Georgi Stoev.
Stoev was shot dead in Sofia in April 2008 after publishing several novels with real and fictional characters from the Bulgarian mafia, after he spent several years as a gangster himself back in the 1990s. No one has been charged or sentenced for Stoev’s murder.
