US President Barack Obama has ordered a full review of air security measures, BBC reports Sunday.

The move comes in the aftermath of a Christmas Day scare when a 23-year-old Nigerian man attempted to blow up a Northwest airplane on route from Amsterdam to Detroit.

The President’s spokesman, Robert Gibbs, is quoted as saying Obama wanted to know how a man carrying the dangerous high explosive substance PETN had managed to get on the plane.

The security watch-list, known as Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE), would also be examined after it emerged that in November Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was listed, officials knew about him and Abdulmutallb’s father had personally warned US authorities about his son’s extremist views.
