A 61-year-old Bulgarian pensioner got a suspended sentence of 10 months with a three-year trial period over death threats he issued against Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.

The man, whose name is Blagoy Bozov, is reported to have called the emergency number 112, and to have stated, “I can always kill Boyko Borisov because this is how I have been taught, and as I am watching the footage right now, I am going to do that.”

He is known to have drunk about a liter of vodka before making the call. Several days before the threat against Borisov, Bozov is known to have threatened an unknown couple in a cafe with a gun, again in a drunken condition.

The man had no criminal record. He has been sentenced by the Plovdiv District Court for hooliganism, death threat, and owning a gun illegally.

The pensioner pleaded guilty before the court saying he realized his mistake, and regretted it.
