The light shocks felt in Bulgaria around 12:40 pm local time Friday have not been triggered by an earthquake.

The information was released by the Geophysics Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

The European Seismological Center reports an earthquake of 2,1 magnitude near Bulgaria’s town of Panagurishte, happening mid-day Friday.

The Bulgarian seismologists, however, say the shocks were caused by blasts at a quarry near Panagurishte, adding such shocks can be felt only in immediate proximity of the blasts.
