Despite the global economic crisis, Bulgarians continue to go to the movies every week, data from a Gallup poll reveals.

The Bulgarian movie audience is over 47% of the residents of the country's 6 largest cities.

The poll shows that 400 000 Bulgarians go the movie theater at least twice a month while the most avid movie goers are those between the ages of 15 and 36.

54% of the movie audience are women, 61% are in active employment age while 33% are students.

In addition, 53% of the actively employed movie goers say they spend 2 to 3 evenings a week going out while 33% go out at least once.

The movie audience has an average monthly income of over BGN 800 which is significantly higher than the country average. The most avid movie fans are in Sofia – 56% of all residents.

Coffee shop, restaurant and bar visits before or after the movies are also a constant trend among Bulgaria's movie audience.
