Bulgaria’s Defense Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, stated Thursday there is a strong possibility that the country will increase its military contingent in Afghanistan.
Mladenov, who spoke in an interview for the morning block of Bulgaria’s TV channel Nova Televizia, pointed out, however, the move depends directly on Bulgaria’s financial state.
The Minister reported that 500 Bulgarian rangers are deployed in Kandahar and Bulgaria has made the commitment to send a field hospital with 30 doctors.
Mladenov explained that from the BGN 1,3 B 2009 budget of the Defense Ministry about BGN 100 M are slated for missions abroad.
