The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) has prepared an alternative budget to the one proposed by the ruling GERB party.
The move comes before the final vote on the budget of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party cabinet.
In the socialist budget the revenue part is BGN 1,26 B higher, Darik radio reported Tuesday.
The alternative BSP budget is based on a BGN 66 B Gross Domestic Product since the left-wing economic experts insists the forecast is not for an economic reduction but for a zero or even positive growth.
BSP further proposes to eliminate the 2% reduction of mandatory insurance deposits – a move they say will bring an additional BGN 400 M to the budget and BGN 380 M more for health care to come from the reserves of the National Health Insurance Fund.
The socialists also want that the insurance threshold for self-insured individuals is increased to BGN 340 instead of the BGN 420 in the GERB budget and an increase of the minimum monthly wage from BGN 240 to BGN 280.
“The State is on autopilot, waiting for Godot,” the BSP leader and former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, commented.
