Bulgaria’s Union of Democratic Forces, which is part of the rightist Blue Coalition, is going to give Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, a list with 100 names of top civil servants related who in its view must be fired.

This was announced Friday by the UDF leader, Martin Dimitrov, who explained the 100 names on the list belong to people related to the former government of the three way coalition of the Socialist Party, the ethnic Turkish party DPS and the NMSP of ex-Tsar Saxe-Coburg.

“We cannot have people with controversial reputation who were part of murky deals and of the failed three-way coalition government to continue to occupy such high-ranking positions,” Dimitrov stated.

The list includes Sotir Ushev, head of Bulgaria’s National Social Security Institute, who according to Dimitrov is close with former Labor Minister Emiliya Maslarova.

Dimitrov said the UDF was currently in the process of compiling the list of names including people from all over the country, occupying even important district and regional positions, who had been involved in suspicious dealings.

“There is no way to have a new government with the same old people,” the UDF leader said. His party is going to demand from Prime Minister Borisov that the people on their list be removed.

Only in the Western District of Pernik, the UDF list includes 20 names of people who, according to the local UDF leaders, have been involved in corruption practices in the state institutions.

The UDF have stressed the fact that they were not calling for a political purge but for removing people lacking professionalism and involved in corruption.

“If the ruling GERB party does not replace those people with real professionals, it is going to bear the responsibility and the brunt of their actions,” Dimitrov stated.

The Blue Coalition, of which the UDF is part of, supports the government of the GERB party.
