A club of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) in the capital Sofia went ablaze in the wee hours Friday.
The BSP offices in the building and the restaurant underneath burned out while the police is investigating possible arson and its motives.
The club, located in the Sofia “Izgrev” (Sunrise) district, burst into flames around 3:00 am and quickly engulfed the entire house. The fire had started on the second floor where the BSP offices were located. The fire further triggered a threat of explosion of the gas bottles in the kitchen of the restaurant located on the ground floor.
The restaurant staff, reportedly, left the building only 10 minutes before neighbors called the firefighters saying the place is burning. The employees have stated already they were convinced this is an arson case and blamed a competitor restaurant across the street. Other versions include a faulty chimney or a Molotov cocktail, as the TV channel PRO BG reported.
