Bulgaria Chief Prosecutor Boris Velchev has proposed that the Bulgarian constitution should be changed to “abolish the legal untouchability of the Chief Prosecutor.”
Velchev stated that there is no room for the currently used legal saying ‘Only god is above the Chief Prosecutor’, in a democratic society. He added that the proposed changes in the constitution would allow the Chief Prosecutor to only deal with guidance to all the prosecutors in Bulgaria and supervision of and supervision over the legality of all prosecutors throughout the country.
The Chief Prosecutor, according to Velchev, should become a normal administrative head of the judiciary, with the power to focus on methodological unification of prosecution practices.
Velchev concluded that legal cases should be mad against every corrupt magistrate who has been identified in the’ Krasio’ case that has shaken the Bulgarian judicial system.
