An official from the criminal police in Sofia has been arrested on Monday in what comes as yet another sign of the interior ministry efforts to clean up its act.

Stanislava Petrova was fired after police found in her office computer more than 200 scanned materials, dealing with pre-trial proceedings and checks, police said.

It has been discovered that Petrova traded the information with the people concerned by the proceedings and checks or used them to their disadvantage.

Petrova entered the system of the Interior Ministry in 2004 and has served since in a number of its structures. According to the ministry her lifestyle was too luxurious for the incomes of a state official, her property including two apartments, villa and a maisonette.

The woman has been detained for 72 hours.
