The Sofia Chairman of the rightist Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, Gen. Atanas Atanasov, has accused socialist Sofia Mayor candidate Georgi Kadiev’s wife of being involved with a corruption scheme.
Atanasov questioned Sonya Kadieva’s right to obtain a license to sell electricity without her company complying with the legal regulations.
The newly elected BSP Secretary for media policy Anton Kutev defended Kadieva’s company saying, in an interview on bTV, that their last contract was actually given to them by the current GERB government.
Kadiev from the Bulgaria Socialist Party lost the Sofia Mayor elections Sunday to the governing center-right GERB party candidate Yordanka Fandakova, who was also supported by DSB.
Atanasov concluded by praising Fandakova and stated that she would be a “very good Mayor”.
