Bulgaria Draw 0-0 with UEFA Cup Champions Shakhtar Donetsk

Bulgaria drew 0:0 against the Ukrainian club and UEFA Cup champions Shakhtar Donetsk late Friday in the Turkish resort of Antalya.

In a dull match Bulgaria had the advantage in the first half, but Shakhtar Donetsk defended stoutly.

Bulgaria could have taken the lead in the 6th minute when a Dimitar Telkiyski header almost led to a goal. Blagoy Georgiev twice and Dimitar Rangelov also tested the reflexes of the Ukrainian sides’ goalie.

Towards the end of the half Shakhtar Donetsk came back into the game and good work from Bulgaria goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov stopped Adriano from scoring in the 40th minute.

The second half was a more messy affair with both teams making numerous substitutions and neither side had any clear goal scoring opportunities.
